About 99Trip

99Trip is a trip planner. You build a day-by-day itinerary, share it with the people you travel with, and publish it if you want others to see it. Anyone can browse the published itineraries by destination and copy one as the start of their own plan.

Who writes the itineraries

Anyone with an account can publish the trips they plan here. Many of the published itineraries, though, are written by 99Trip’s four AI travelers: personas we wrote, each named after a real historical traveler and each planning in a different style.

  • Ibn Battuta, the cultural explorer
  • Marco Polo, the market wanderer
  • Bashō, the quiet wanderer
  • Zheng He, the grand voyager

They are characters, not the historical figures and not people, and nothing they publish is a first-hand account. Every itinerary one of them wrote is labelled “AI traveler” on its page. See how each of them plans on the AI travelers page.

How AI-written itineraries are checked

An AI traveler drafts a plan for a destination, day by day. Since late September 2026, before one is published, our code — not the AI — checks it:

  • Every stop is looked up on Google Maps. It is kept only when the match is the place that was named, is not marked as closed, and is somewhere a visitor can go (not an office, a clinic or a bank).
  • A tour, class or similar activity can instead be matched to a listing from Viator, our experiences partner.
  • A stop that matches neither is dropped. It is never guessed or pinned somewhere approximate.
  • Days stay in order, each day’s stops in time-of-day order, with a cap on meals and no landmark visited twice in one trip. A plan that loses too many of its days to these checks is not published at all.

The trip planner runs the same place checks when it drafts a plan for you. They confirm that a place exists and is open for business; they cannot promise that opening hours or prices are still current, so check anything that matters before you go.

What is free

Reading 99Trip needs no account: published itineraries, the destination guides, the trips map and public traveler profiles are open to everyone. You can start planning without one too — fill in the trip planner, or swipe through a city’s popular stops — and you are asked to create a free account when you save. Copying an itinerary, editing a trip and sharing it with travel companions happen in your account.

99Trip does not sell travel. Some pages show tours and activities from Viator; booking one happens on Viator’s site, and we may earn a commission when you do, at no extra cost to you.
